 Biographical Sketch of Valenti Angelo

Valenti Angelo, born June 23, 1987 in Massarosa, Tuscany, Italy, came to the United States in 1905. Angelo attended schools in Italy and California and worked jobs in a paper mill; as a laborer in rubber, steel and glass works; at a photo engraving firm; and eventually began illustrating books for Grabhorn Press and became a free-lance artist. He began writing children's books in 1937 and has had dozens of his book illustrations included in the American Institute of Graphic Arts' Fifty Books of the Year Exhibits.
