welcome to the children's literature research collections

Grimm's Fairy Tales - "Ashenputtel"
Illustrated by Authur Rackham
New York: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1912

The CLRC, an internationally recognized resource in the field of children’s literature, contain six core collections and several smaller collections. They are the Kerlan Collection of Children's Literature, the Hess Collection of Dime Novels, Story Papers, and Series Books, the Paul Bunyan Collection, the Laura Jane Musser Collection of Oziana materials, and the Illustrated Treasure Island Collection. The CLRC is continually expanding its holdings in historical and other areas.

All the material is accessible to anyone, who needs to consult it, but use by readers is confined to the reading room, where attendants bring requested material. A card catalogue as well as an on-line catalogue of holdings is kept in the reading room (not all of our material is on the on-line catalogue). To search for material, using the on-line catalogue, you must use the University of Minnesota's MNCAT and pay close attention to the location of the material, as MNCAT is a catalogue for the all of the University's libraries. Our location is "Andersen Children's Lit".

The collections are available for the use in the Andersen Library under certain restrictions. Inquires may be made to the Children's Literature Research Collections.

The Children’s Literature Research Collections and its subsidiary units will have limited hours and service

11 April – 19 April

And will be closed completely on

To make an appointment, please call 612-624-4576.  We will call back to confirm any requests as staff becomes available. Thank you for your patience.
